SUMMER MUSIC CAMP IN TOMIÑO

Synopsis

Designed for children from 3 years of age, this summer camp, organized by Tomiño City Council with the Goián Musical Group, was created to help parents in the search for initial musical training that could be reconciled with their professional life.

Here, children have the opportunity to approach popular music for the first time, try out different instruments, perform different activities, and develop interpersonal skills.

Target Audience

Boys and girls from 3 to 14 years, belonging to Galicia municipalities and even from Portugal, such as Vila Nova de Cerveira.

Goals

Facilitate the conciliation of family and work life with children’s activities of musical initiation and approach to popular music.

  • Teamwork;

  • Musical event;
  • Social values (respect, empathy, tolerance, responsibility, cooperation, ecology, nature care, etc).

Training Team

The camps are conducted by three monitors from Agrupación Musical de Goián, to cater to all diversity of participants.

Description and workplan

The summer camp arises from the demand of families who are looking for conciliation offers with the possibility of musical training. In this camp boys and girls from 3 to 14 years, have the opportunity to experiment with different music instruments. 

 

Most of the time, this summer camp is the children’s first contact with the world of music, so monitors try to attract them through games and group dynamics, instrument creation workshops, working with an integrative methodology that allows them to learn to live in diversity and equality. In addition, trainers from the School of Music introduce the Goián Musical Group.

 

Since 2017, the theme of the music camp revolves around the concert that the Agrupación Musical de Goián develops in the summer in the Praza do Seixo.

Through playful activities there is an approach to the Galician, Portuguese and the folklore of the different regions of Spain. All are configured as “themed trips” through different activities where the main purpose is the enjoyment of music by the participating children. 

Different activities are carried out: 

  • Mini-concerts by solo musicians; 
  • Manipulative activities with natural elements; 
  • Musical instrument workshops with scrap material; 
  • Handling of instruments; 
  • Activities of abstraction through music among others. 

Duration proposed

This summer camps lasts two weeks, and classes take place from Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 2 pm.
